Banana Bread Muffin Tops
Today, I made a Pinterest recipe, Banana Bread Muffins. Except, I added walnuts and I didn't have access to my muffin pan . So, I made muffin tops by pouring them out on a cookie sheet like, well...cookies. They turned out really delicate, moist and just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth after dinner. I also made a small loaf to freeze for another day. I would like to see how these turn out in muffin form some time soon. These will be really good in the morning with a serving of yogurt and some fresh fruit.

Picture a Day
Here are my two girls, Katelyn and Emily. They are 4 years and 4 months old, respectfully.
There is nothing greater than the love you feel for your children.

Day 1 of Picture a Day
Here is a sunset that I watched from my car as I was driving on I-75 a few days back. It was a highly emotional day, my Great Aunt had just passed and I had just been to her burial. Such a beautiful sunset to remember her by.

Let's get it started
I am going to try my best to keep up with this blog with a daily post, I have a habit of forgetting about them and letting them go. Posts may include my adventures in crafting, cooking and motherhood. Pinterest has become an addiction and I need an outlet to share my experiences with projects and recipes that I attempt from there. I will be starting a picture a day challenge starting tomorrow.
First Project from Pinterest was homemade laundry detergent. There were several links to blogs with recipes and recommendations, but I found the recipe that I used on SouthernPlate. I was slightly surprised when I walked up and down the isles of Target and did not find any of the items required. I did, however, find some things I didn't really need to buy, instead. Go figure! So, I made the trek over to Publix, our favorite grocery store. Sure enough, there were all three items almost like they knew they were going to be bought together. After grabbing an Italian sub for lunch, Emily and I were on our way. I didn't get a chance to mix it up until later after the kids had gone to bed since Emily had her 4 month shots that afternoon and needed snuggle time with Mommy. As we sat and watched a few episodes of Sons of Anarchy, I shredded the Fels Naptha. I took my time with it, but it could have been done in about 5-10 minutes. Shortly after I had it mixed, we put in a load of laundry and tested it out. Aaron needed to have his jeans washed for casual Friday. He was worried about itching, since a few detergents make him itch. He was first surprised at how soft they were, and then happy that he hadn't broken out in a rash by the end of the day. I have used it on our 4 month old's clothes, and she is fine with it as well. I think it I am sold on making detergent ourselves. It is easy, cost effective and our clothes are softer, smell good and are clean with out all the chemicals that the store-bought detergents have. Our cost break down was $3.99 for the Borax $2.50 for the Washing Soda and $0.99 each for the Fels Naptha Bars(4)= $10.50 for about 180 loads = 6 cents a load! (Oh, and since I was back at Target today I picked up a 6 qt. plastic cereal container to store it in for $3.99)
